Esther Laga is a young and ambitieus interior architect who has honed her skills at both KASK School of Arts, LUCA School of Arts and KLJ Leuven Architecture. While studying, she became passionate about creating more sustainable building systems, and this passion led her to turn a school project into a thriving startup. Her innovative approach and dedication to sustainability earned her projects numerous awards and recognition within the industry. Today, Esther continues to examine the status quo in how we generally use objects, spaces and non-places. She aims to offer valuable and accessible modular alternatives for objects and temporary setups using her Hitch-tools.
The Project
Hitch-tools are the embodiment of versatility, crafted from stainless steel they offer limitless potential to the creative mind. With their unique clamping system, they bring to life circular and modular designs, transforming mere board materials into sturdy structures. These connectors embrace the materials they hold, never causing any harm or damage, granting each creation with an eternity of reusability. Hitch-tools are the adult sibling of K'nex, empowering individuals to construct their own circular furniture, stage memorable events or bring their business projects to life. Whether it be museums, shops, festivals or unique furnishings for your home, Hitchtools are the trusted service for building truly innovative and sustainable masterpieces. During her stay at Hektor, Esther will bring her vision to life by constructing a sleek modular kitchenette and a beautiful bench to complement a palm tree. She will create a unique design, inspired by her surroundings and will embark on a quest to gather locally sourced materials. With her artistic eye and skillful hands, she will craft pieces that are not only functional, but also a reflection of their environment.
The Hitch-installations are permanent installations and can be visited on appointment.
